No, Viva Connections doesn’t replace your SharePoint intranet—it’s a gateway to it. We see this distinction regularly misunderstood. Viva Connections makes your SharePoint intranet accessible through Teams on desktop and mobile, surfacing existing content in a new front door rather than replacing it. Your content, structure, and pages still live in SharePoint. The real benefit is reaching employees where they already work. At Silicon Reef, we recommend viewing Viva Connections as part of a multi-entry-point strategy—browser access, Teams integration, and mobile—because different audiences prefer different pathways.

How does Microsoft Viva work with SharePoint?

SharePoint is the foundational content layer for Microsoft Viva. Viva Connections connects to your SharePoint home site, which becomes the homepage employees see in Teams.
